Backing Leaders Who Stand Up to ICE

The success of democracy hinges on politicians’ ability to speak out and dissent. After confronting ICE agents over their treatment of detained women at an immigrant rights protest outside a Newark detention center, Rep. LaMonica McIver was arrested and hit with federal charges. We helped our client, UltraViolet organize and recruit media to a rally outside the courthouse while she entered her ‘not guilty’ plea. Our support helped focus media coverage on the story that needed telling: a Black woman leader standing with immigrants, demanding accountability, and refusing to stay silent.

A Winning Effort to Protect Immigrants

The American Business Immigration Coalition Action came to us with a clear goal: win protections for immigrant spouses who have lived and worked in the U.S. for years without legal status. We helped shape the strategy and the story.

Through rapid media outreach, sharp messaging, and bilingual digital ads, we amplified local actions and built momentum toward a national rally in D.C.
The result: major coverage in The New York Times, NBC, LA Times, La Opinión, and more, and a win from the Biden Administration protecting over 500,000 spouses of U.S. citizens.
